Busy week and in need of a healthy meal replacement? I hear ya! I had a crazy work schedule over the past few weeks (you might have noticed that it was pretty quiet on the blog!) and I basically lived on coffee and cereal bars. Squeezing in meals seemed almost impossible and anything grab-and-go was most welcome.
That’s why – every once in a while – I’m crazy about meal replacement drinks. Having said that, I definitely prefer the homemade versions compared to the store-bought ones. Today I am sharing the recipe for one of my favourite (homemade) meal replacement drinks: a Healthy Smoothie Shake. Basically, it’s a fusion of smoothie and milkshake. If you like the combination of bananas, oats, and nut butter, you are going to love this one (promise!).
Ingredients for a Healthy Smoothie Shake
This Healthy Smoothie Shake is made with 5 basic ingredients: milk, bananas, oats, nut butter, and vanilla extract. You can easily play around and make this Healthy Smoothie Shake your own. Simply use your favourite milk (e.g., almond milk, oat milk, cashew milk, coconut milk) and nut butter (e.g., Easy-Peasy Almond Butter, Cocoa Nut Butter with Christmas Spice, cashew butter, peanut butter). The options are endless.
How to make a Healthy Smoothie Shake
It couldn’t be easier to prepare this Healthy Smoothie Shake. Seriously, it will be ready in under 5 minutes. Simply (1) combine all ingredients and (2) blend until smooth. Done. Quick & easy, right?

Healthy Smoothie Shake
Yield 1 serving
- 1 cup milk of choice*
- 1 very ripe banana, cut and frozen
- 2 tbsp rolled oats
- 1 tsp nut butter of choice**
- pinch of vanilla extract
- Add all ingredients to blender.
- Blend until smooth.
