Dry Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup self-raising flour sieved
  • pinch of cinnamon
  • pinch of ginger
  • pinch of nutmeg

Wet Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp milk of choice
  • 2 tbsp apple sauce
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp coconut oil melted
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract optional

Other Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup apple grated
  • icing sugar optional (for serving)
  • vanilla ice cream optional (for serving)


  • In a BIG microwave safe mug, combine all dry ingredients.
  • In a second mug, combine all wet ingredients.
  • Make a well in the centre of the dry ingredients and add the wet ingredients. Whisk until combined and no lumps remain. 
  • Add the grated apple and mix again.
  • Microwave mug cake for about 2 minutes on high. Keep an eye on the batter and check every 30 seconds after the first minute. Depending on your microwave, your mug cake might need a little less or more time.
